Coronary CTA, conducted at Lincoln Radiology Imaging and Internventional Center (LRI) uses a 64-Slice CT to create 3D images of the heart. The non-invasive test is used to determine whether fatty deposits or calcium deposits have built up in the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle. If left untreated, these areas of build-up, called plaques, can cause heart muscle disease. Heart muscle disease, in turn, can lead to fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain and even a heart attack.
Coronary CTA vs. Cardiac Catherization (Angiogram)
What is the Cost?
Insurance covers indications such as chest pain or shortness of breath. Coronary CTA for screening purposes is not covered by insurance. LRI is offering the exam for $495*.*$495 payment is due at the time of the exam.
Cardiac/Coronary CTA Indications
Intermediate to high-risk profiles of CAD, but who do not have typical symptoms (chest pain, shortness of breath)
Chest symptoms in low to intermediate risk patients
Unclear/inconclusive stress-test results
Who should have a Coronary CTA
Quick and non-invasive exam time 5-10 minutes
Gives accurate and unique information of the coronary arteries including narrowing type and degree of plaque
Coronary CTA can non-invasively exclude CAD – no complications
Images the rest of the chest (ie: lungs, pulmonary arteries) which may identify the etiology of a patient’s chest pain
What are the advantages of having a Coronary CTA at LRI?
All exams are read by an on-site Board Certified Radiologist
Surrounding tissues automatically included in the exam (lungs)
Insurance coverage for chest symptoms (with and without contrast)
Screening Coronary CTA is only $495
Coronary Calcium Screening is included in the exam
